Eco-Med Pharmaceuticals Inc. has found that some batches of their ultrasound gel might be contaminated by the bacterium Burkholderia stabilis, which belongs to the complex Burkholderia cepacia (Bcc). This bacterium can cause an infection among immunocompromised patients.

Therefore, the ultrasound gel from company Eco-Med Pharmaceuticals Inc. has been recalled.
The producer urges all users to stop using the batches with the numbers mentioned in the safety notice of Eco-Med Pharmaceuticals Inc.

As the producer of the device went bankrupt, this recall was not carried out appropriately. For that reason the FAMHP is passing on the information on the recalled batches of gel.
