Coronavirus: updated Belgian directive for the reuse of surgical and FFP2/FFP3 face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic

date: 06/05/2020

The national directive published on 07.04.2020 concerning the reprocessing of surgical and FFP2/3 face masks has been updated. This directive aims to guide the validation of the various initiatives being put in place regarding the reuse of surgical masks and personal facial protection.

In the new version, an annex has been added that includes a list of companies that have informed the FAMHP of an initiative under development concerning the decontamination and reuse of masks. The aim of this annex is to encourage exchanges between the different sectors and partners.

The FAMHP would like to reiterate that it does not validate the various suggested methods listed in this annex, but, through the directive, it sets out the requirements that should be assessed for their validation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a working group on the reuse of single-use products has drawn up a national directive on the reprocessing of surgical and FFP2/3 masks.
